Great book!
Rating: 5 / 5
Truely amazed at just how wonderful this book is. A definate must in any Cuban household. Easy to follow recipies that taste just like grandpa used to make. As a cuban-american, it's great to have the traditions in my own home. The stories are great, even for someone like me who was not born nor has ever been to Cuba.

Recipes of All Times

Great recipes, easy to follow. Truly an authentic cuban cuisine book that brings me beautiful childhood memories of my never forgotten island.

I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoy my new beverage of choice. Made from 100% organic soy, taste just like coffee and no caffeine. Finally, I got rid of that wired up feeling all day and feeling great. Look for it on the net by googling "s o yfee". What a wonderful book! Not only are the recipes authentic and easy to follow, but every one comes with alittle bit of history and tradition.

Tan rico!

As a Cuban-born, masitas de puerco-lovin' gal, I can vouch for this amazing, excellent cookbook. Every other Cuban cookbook pales in comparison and feels like a trendoid-seizing wannabe. The blending of the author's personal history and family stories with her superb and superbly simple recipes makes me feel utterly confident in my Cuban-American kitchen. The only disappointment -- and I hesitate to mention this because the book is otherwise such a winner -- was the recipe for lime cookies. I've attempted it several times and it just doesn't work. The dough falls apart and you can't slice it, as the recipe calls for. At any rate, my Cuban family LOVES what I cook for them and my American friends go LOCO LOCO LOCO for every single dish (I have one girlfriend who's become so obsessed with the black bean hummus dip that she even eats it for breakfast -- now THAT is scary.)One caveat: Unlike the author, I don't have servants, maids and cooks to perform all the heavy lifting/dicing/sauteeing that many Cuban dishes require. So give yourself plenty of time; the recipes' cooking times are vastly less than what you'll encounter on your own.
