Her Dream Come True
Rating: 5 / 5
Twenty-one-year-old Nicola Sanderson is alone in the world. She's a graduate of drama school and had a bit part in a failing English play. She's down on her luck when she sees an ad for a nanny in Venezuela. The jumps at the offer. However once she gets there, her employers are nowhere to be seen. Stupidly she accepts a ride with two men who say they'll take her to them. However they quickly make their intentions known. Then can get a lot of money for a young white woman.

American Ross King is an internationally known film director with a past he's running away from. A year ago he turned his young wife Arlene into a film star, then she started messing around with other men and the gossip columns were full of it. So when Ross survived the accident that killed her, he was charged with murder. True he was acquitted in the eyes of the law, but as far as the tabloids were concerned, Ross was guilty as sin, so he fled to a friend's place in the Venezuelan rain forest.

Ross is driving in the blinding rain when he sees Nicola in the middle of the road. She had escaped her captors, was trying to make it to a small town when Ross rescues her and takes her to his friends fabulous ranchero. It doesn't take long for Nicola to figure out who Ross is or for Ross to fall in love with her. They marry, go back to Hollywood and Ross turns her into an actress as well. Then there are rumors that she is seeing somebody else, rumors that he is too. Is it all starting over again?

I liked this story so much that I forgave the coincidence of the young wannabe actress happening to fall into the arms of the super director. Kay Thorpe filled her story with excellent on-the-edge-of-your-seat-writing. She is obviously one of those writers who believes in doing her very best and it shows here. I highly recommend this one.
