The Only Vegetable Cookbook You'll Ever Need
Rating: 5 / 5
That is, unless you have a taste for some really exotic vegetables. This book thoroughly covers most of the vegetables grown in the American garden. (I'd never heard of some of the entries) Not only does it give tasty recipes, it lists the growing seasons, gardening tips, and ways to preserve the vegetables that cannot be cooked right away. This is my favorite feature - especially since my father (avid gardener) will show up with two bushels of snap beans, eight heads of cabbage, etc. and I am panicking about how to use them before they spoil. If you are a gardener or the friend of a gardener, this book is indispensable.

this is one of my favorite cookbooks
a wonderful resource of info about how to buy, cook any vegetable
my copy is falling apart so I want to replace it. How many cook books can merit that

My Aunt gave me a copy after she could tell the cookbook she'd given me for a gift didn't match my vegetarian leaning eating habits. It was immediately obvious why this was one of her favorites. I've never been so suprised by a cookbook's extensive, yet accesible knowledge. It single-handedly introduced cooking with greens and cabbages into my diet. Now that I've spoiled my first copy with wear, I'm hoping my Aunt will endow me with another.....hint, hint. The only downer...and this is minor, is that she cooks with electric, and my kitchen is gas, but I'll live.
