The Black's true owners come to claim him.
Rating: 5 / 5
Alec had believed that the real owner of the horse who saved his life, The Black, was killed in the sinking of The Drake. But when an intruder tries to slay the great stallion, leaving behind a medallion of a bird, it makes Alec remember about the owner who was killed, was he really dead or was he? Henry goes off with the hypodermic that they found on the barn floor to the police. The next day, Alec comes to the barn to find a police car and another car. He immediately asks if they found what was in the hypo. It turned out to be a deadly substance. Henry informs Alec that there is more as Black's owner has come to claim him. Alec is stunned and shocked. He immediately states that he's not until he reads the Black's pedigree. Abu ben Ishak is grateful to Alec for saving Shetan, which turns out to be his real name and asks to see the pure black stallion. Alec wants to see how he and the Black reacts to each other, takes him to the stall where the Black is. Abu speaks to Shetan in Arabic and the Black's ears that usually would be pinned against his head and his attempt at biting the person in front of him, never happened, his ears are perked forward listening to him speak. Abu informs Alec that he will be back in one hour to claim him and tries to give Alec money in repayment for what he has done with the stallion. But Alec doesn't want the money just The Black. But the Arab sheik is sorry for he cannot give him the horse. An hour later, Abu returns with a horse trailer and personally hauls him out to the trailer where the Black enters willingly. Alec never sees the trailer leave the barn nor did he watch the Black walk out of the barn. Weeks later, he, Henry and Volence who learned of the Black's true owners coming to claim him, venture into the desert of Arabia to find Abu ben Ishak to see if the Sheik would sell Volence some of his Arabians and maybe get The Black from him. After a big adventure getting to Abu ben Ishak's home, they learn that the Black is being ridden by another rider who uses a crop to make the stallion go forth. Alec informs Abu this. The rider is warned. But the stallion will not run without the whip. Later that night, the stallion is stolen by the rider, they later find the stallion in a valley with a rogue tribe who the rider of the Black is a member. Alec rescues the Black only to be captured by the tribe. With his shoulder dislocated, Alec manages to get the Black to safety. Abu realizes that Alec is the Black's one and only rider. He asks Alec to ride the Black in the desert race that is to be held shortly. But he must win the race to keep the horse. The race is run with the Black winning the race. At Abu's home, Alec is informed that the Black will be placed in stud and a foal will come and that foal will be his. Alec goes home without his beloved stallion but with the hope of a colt from the Black.

Excellent Book
Rating: 5 / 5
I read this book in less then 24 hours. There were so many parts that kept me turning the page, there was a lot more excitement then in The Black Stallion, I also think this one was written a lot better. Reading I felt like I was there, in Arabia feeling how hot and dry it was. I think anyone who loves horse would enjoy this novel. If you have never read book but have seen the movie, you will be pleasantly surprised as it is vastly different, there is in part tons more excitement, thrill and other stuff that makes a good adventure novel. You'll be there right alongside Alec , feeling everything he is feeling. Walter Farley certainly created a classic; The Black Stallion will live on forever. I give the book 10 stars.

The Black Stallion Returns by Walter Farley
Rating: 4 / 5
Alec Ramsay's horse, the Black, who beat America's fastest horses, has just been claimed by his, supposedly, real owner, who lives in Arabia. This book is about how Alec will do anything to get back the Black, even if it means to go half-way around the world! Alec eventually finds himself in search of the Black's owner in the deserts of Arabia, and anything can happen in Arabia from desert raids to horse races.
This is an animal fiction book by Walter Farley. Two reasons I liked this book was because it had a page-turning story line and a wonderful ending. There were some parts of the book that lost my interest, but overall it was a fantastic book! I would give this book a rating of four out of five. The age group that the book would be best for is 10-15 years old. I really recommend you to read this book!
