Dark Portal Review
Rating: 5 / 5
I really enjoyed reading this book and found it nearly immposible to put it down and I would think about it during the time I wasn't reading it. I don't generally enjoy books about animals, but this one was fantastic. The society of mice and bats and rats were fantasticily conciveed by Jarvis, who clearly delivered all aspects of the story. I plan to purchase the second one as soon as possible!

The reader a writer becomes...
Rating: 4 / 5
I grew up on Robin Jarvis, turning to him when I got too old for Brian Jaques. I loved his monsters, his terrifying villains, his evil spells and heroic battles. And most of all I loved his believable protagonists, who weren't mysterious orphans or great warriors but just ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It made them so much more real to me.
But time passed as it always does, and inevitably I grew out of Jarvis just as I'd grown out of Jaques. But at the same time I started writing novels of my own. They started out as fanfiction of the Deptford trilogies, but in time they became truly original creations. The reader a writer became, and the writer became published.
However those rodent books I wrote are still on my website where anyone can read them for free. Anyone who likes Jarvis will like them, and they are full-length, professionally-written novels.
Until they are published, they will be there for nothing.

The Dark Portal Minh's Review
Rating: 5 / 5
The Dark Portal by Robin Jarvis is 5 stars for excitement and survival.
Albert's life is on the line and his daughter Audrey would risk her life to save him. Albert is very kind hearted and is near death in the scariest place that any mouse would want to go! Will Audrey be able to save her father or will they be eaten by those horrific rats?
I life this book because it shows us that mice have a life that is just like ours.
This book is recommended for all kids that love excitement and really dark places.
