Ozma of Oz
Book: Ozma of Oz
Written by: L. Frank Baum
Publisher: McGraw-Hill/Contemporary
Average Customer Rating: 5.0 / 5

Best in the series!
Rating: 5 / 5
This is truly the best Oz book in the Wonderful Oz series. The tension, adventure and excitement is unmatched in any other book.

Dorothy Gale is re-introduced, after an absence. The character of Ozma, new princess of Oz, is further developed. She comes to Ev to rescue its royal family from the cunning Nome King, along with the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. Billina, Tik-Tok and the Hungry Tiger are all new characters and the Cowardly Lion also makes an appearance.

This is a book that I couldn't put down for about a week. Baum changes the villain to a nome, instead of witches as he used in the previous two books. It shows Ozma as a vulnerable girl rather than a powerful fairy. Even she cannot escape from the Nome King's trap.

And finally before I forget, the Princess Langwidere... hilarious :D

Ozma of Oz

L. Frank Baum

Today I am talking about one of the sequels of 'The Wizard of Oz'. Dorthy returns to Oz on her second visit to find herself in the fairy realm of Ev. With the help of a talking hen, Billina, a mechanical man, Tik-Tok, a hungry tiger, and a princess with 30 heads, Dorothy sets out to rescue the Queen of Ev and her ten children. She is also joined by her friends from the story of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. They have all been imprisoned by the cruel Nome King, and even Ozma, the wise Ruler of Oz, is no match for him.

This book is about one of the next adventures of Dorothy Gale, the little girl from Kansas. She is accompanying her Uncle Henry on his trip to Australia by ship. She is an experienced traveler. She had been to the land of Oz before. When she thinks her uncle is lost on deck during a storm, while looking for her uncle, she ends up in a chicken coop that drifts away to the land of Ev. In Ev, she has to escape the wheelers, and defeat the Nome King to free the Queen of Ev. With the help of Ozma, the Princess of Oz, she is able to go to Australia and find her dear Uncle. This story shows how her care for her Uncle helped him get better.

I have heard a lot about the Wizard of Oz and wanted to know what the sequel was like. The book was very descriptive - even without pictures, I could make a picture in my mind for what was happening. I give it five stars! However, some of the pictures that we see in one page is actually not for that page. That is my only dislike. I think fans of the Wizard of Oz would like to read it. They say it is the best book in the series. I think people who like to read about magic and adventure will like it.
