Strength Training Anatomy
Book: Strength Training Anatomy
Written by: Frederic Delavier
Publisher: Human Kinetics Publishers
Average Customer Rating: 5.0 / 5

Good book - got a
Rating: 4 / 5
The book contains great pictures for various training methods and shows exactly which muscles are used in each method...
However...I was very disappointed to see when I opened the book, that it was upside down inside...probably a mistake that only happened to a few books, still it irritates me to pay full prise for something that isn't the way it's supposed to be...

Super Book
Rating: 5 / 5
The book is outstanding in his details and order.
It is, in my opinion, second-to-non in its graphic imaging
and details.
However it seems to me that the greater value from
this book will be for those who learned anatomy and
have previews knowledge about the human body.
For those people it is a must.

ALMOST Perfect... very unfortunate
Rating: 4 / 5
I recently bought this book at Borders, because I planned to write my own routine, so as to cater to my own needs. I wished to use this book as a reference. I think the pictures in the book are excellent, and the exercise instructions/descriptions are concise. A very very good reference book so far... until I found something very annoying.

Each of the exercises are color-coded. Different color-codes refers to different muscle groups being worked by the exercise. The back flap of the book shows the full color codings to each muscle groups. However, for the chest section, the color contradicts to what is shown on the picture of the exercises. The pectorals area is supposed to be coded Reddish-orange (from back-flap). However, if you refer to the chest exercises, they coded it with dark brown (and the dark brown is supposed to refer to the Thigh Flexor). The dumbbell flyes is supposed to work the pectorals & front shoulders , but it is coded dark blue ONLY (refers to the triceps, yes, I know the fly does work the triceps a little. But, doesn't it work ,mostly, the pectorals?) The incline dumbbell chest press is coded ONLY to work the pectorals(reddish-orange- but then that color is for shoulders!). Furthermore, shouldn't the incline dmbell chest press work the triceps too?.

Those are just few of the flaws I care to point out. There are many many more if you look through it carefully. Especially the 'Chest' section. Totally flawed.

I don't know about you, but for me, considering that this is supposed to be a reference book, failing to correctly point out the related muscle trained, is simply unacceptable. It really annoyed me. The publisher should thoroughly revise it and, oh gosh, pleaseeee calibrate the damn printer to show the right color! Hey, considering that this book is in its new 2006 second edition, It just annoys me more!

But, overall it is a great reference book for how your muscles respond to different stressors, but, if you're rather paranoid on those little flaws I mentioned above, I'd suggest you wait for the next edition (if there is going to be any). If not, go ahead and buy.

Hope this has been helpful.
