A New England Must!
Rating: 5 / 5
I borrowed this book from my library since no one else had checked it out, and now it's on my Wish List! I'm NOT a great cook but I love seafood and I found the recipes to be pretty fast and straightforward. The section on Asian ingredients with photos is very helpful. We've especially liked the maple-ginger salmon and the sweet garlic pork. Can't wait to try the coconut shrimp chowder! This is that rare cookbook that is both beautiful AND practical, and makes great use of New England staples.

Far East Down East is the first cookbook I have read in one sitting, cover-to-cover! The book is beautifully photographed and filled with charming notes from the author. What really sets this book far ahead of others of this type is the simplicity of the recipes and accessibilty of the ingredients.DeMustchine provides shortcuts and substitutions without compromising the complex tastes of this cuisine. Can't wait to treat my friends. Wait, I want Bruce DeMustchine for my new best friend!
