Something for both experienced and new users of Word
Rating: 5 / 5
I have used Word for decades. Yet this book contains enough tricks and advice for the experienced user to find it a good investment, and enough of the basics to help the inexperienced user save a lot of time. It is clearly written, with a friendly tone that communicates nicely. Importantly for the experienced user and those moving from earlier versions, it advises what features are more trouble than they are worth, so the book saves time. What would I like to see in the next version? For the beginner, some screen shots to make some concepts more accessible, like different headers for sections (the main problem and solution is well explained, but illustration might help), odd-even arrangements, etc. As it is? Well worth the price.

For absolute beginners only
Rating: 2 / 5
The title of this brief PDF document promises much, much more than what it delivers. Absolute beginners will find a handful of useful tips-- e.g., use typographer's "curly" quotes instead of straight, "typewriter" quotes. But if you are fairly familiar with Word's basic typographic options and menus, and know your em-dashes from your hyphens, you won't find anything new here. I tried it for the $6 on the chance it *might* tell me something I didn't already know, but I feel I broke even on the gamble, at best.

Accurate, straight to the point, but...!
Rating: 3 / 5
I have to admitt that when I purchased this book, I was more currious than I was interesting to see what's inside. I read the readers' reviews here at Amazon, I read some other comments elsewhere, I also tryed Google on that subject and everything was pointed on that eBook of the 19 pages. Now you can understand why I was currious of buying it (unfortunatelly not from Amazon.com, because for a reason that I don't know, Amazon.com doesn't sell eBooks to the European Union).
I read the entire book -it doesn't take more than an hour- and I found it accurate and straight to the point. But, I can't share the enthousiasm of the other reviewers that this is the ultimate book about Microsoft Word, Typography or Books. Probably some people will find in this book the information they lack in order to complete their task -to complete a book with MS Word. And indeed if you really know MS Word, you can find some pieces of information in this book. But, I believe there are a lot of things that have to be said more, and some things that have to be shawn, in order to be a complete book for the purpose.
If this book has something excellent, that has to be its marketing. About the content, I believe the 3 stars are a good recommentation for a $6 priced book, when considering all the above.
